First Post!

When I was thinking about why I wanted a blog, and what I would blog about, I realized I wanted to do this so I could share what I am currently passionate about, or at least what I am finding new and enjoyable. Thus, the title: Lisa likes. I'm Lisa and I guess what I'll mostly be sharing is what I am liking at the moment. Can't guarantee that there won't be some dislikes along the way.

So, for my first "like", I've chosen a song by Levon Helm, from his latest album Electric Dirt.

It's called "When I Go Away." I first heard it on my local college radio station, Brookdale Public Radio, while I was sitting in the car in the parking lot of the library where I work, putting on make-up. I caught it halfway through and I couldn't linger to listen for the song title. The radio station does post its playlists, but not for about 36 hours, and I couldn't remember enough of the lyrics to Google for the song title. I tried to figure out the name of that song for three days, until I finally heard it again!

It's a great song, with that great American voice singing about his death "when he goes away", but really catchy, lots of great guitar and feeling - a song that seems like you've known it and heard it for years. I haven't heard the rest of the album yet, but it's getting rave reviews, and if this song is any indicator, I'm prediticting Grammy nominations/wins. It's American roots music, but original compositions, not covers like last year's winner, Raising Sand.
